Vitae Biomedical Advances Non-Invasive Urine Testing for Lung Cancer Detection
2025-07-24

As global cancer screening rates remain limited by accessibility and high testing barriers, Vitae Biomedical Co., Ltd. is introducing a novel approach through its non-invasive, urine-based detection platform. By leveraging urine as the primary sample type, the company aims to provide a more accessible and patient-friendly solution for early cancer detection.
The company’s recently developed urine-based lung cancer detection reagent has obtained CE IVD certification in Europe. Designed to detect multiple lung cancer subtypes in a single test, the assay demonstrates approximately 99% sensitivity and 95% specificity when used in combination with low-dose computed tomography (LDCT), supporting clinicians in improving diagnostic accuracy and efficiency.
Even without imaging support, the test maintains an accuracy rate of over 85%, highlighting its potential as a standalone screening tool in resource-limited settings, for high-risk populations requiring frequent monitoring, and for individuals not currently covered by standard screening programs.
Building on this foundation, Vitae Biomedical is actively advancing its platform toward integration with point-of-care (POCT) systems, enabling faster and more accessible testing. The company also envisions expanding the platform to support multi-disease detection and home-based health monitoring applications.
In parallel with its technological development, Vitae Biomedical continues to strengthen its intellectual property portfolio and global market presence. The company has secured patents across the United States, Japan, Taiwan, and Australia, while pursuing additional filings in Europe and across Asia. Clinical collaborations are underway with leading medical centers in Taiwan, alongside ongoing regulatory and commercialization strategies in Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
As part of its international outreach, the company will participate in BIO Asia–Taiwan 2025, where it plans to engage with global partners and investors. Vitae Biomedical welcomes collaboration with organizations that bring expertise in distribution, investment, or co-development, with the shared goal of advancing non-invasive diagnostics and improving access to early disease detection worldwide.
